Philosophy

“Rhythm is intrinsic to humans. It is an essential component for life and success.”

"We are a function of rhythm, biologically as well as musically."

Dr Bernhard Tagwerker

"Intricate studies of the rhythms of both music as well as the human body give me a better understanding of their respective function and malfunction. Rhythm is a functional foundation of both of these entities.

Whether the beat of a drum or the vibrations of our vocal cords or an instrument, whether our heart beat or sleep-wake-cycle, our breathing pattern, brain activity, reproductive cycle, digestion, muscle function, etc…, rhythm is everywhere, it is intrinsic to us. We are a function of rhythm, physiologically as well as musically. We perceive good rhythm as a state of order, correctness, and regularity. Contrary, any disorder of rhythm is felt as defective or ill. We are rhythm.

Therefore rhythm has the power to move people and it has the power to heal and to restore malfunction. It even bears some of the answers to life and our very existence. I dare to say that its omnipresence in the universe manifests in all sciences as diverse as biology, psychology, astronomy, even history, computer sciences, the financial system and our religions.

To me, music and the human body are not separate, distinct existences - they are different expressions of a common driver: rhythm."
